Food for Thought @ Botanic Gardens

There has been too much procrastination.
It is time.

First post from the Couple Wee: FFT
Cranberry scone with fresh custard cream & strawbie jam
It looked deceivingly dry, but boy were we wrong.
The judgmental bf went: "It doesn't look good at all", but I had to fight the last piece with him!
Buttery texture, flaky crust, and juicy berries.
The cold custard cream was a burst of joy on the tongue too, a delicious contrast with the warm pastry.

Our mains for 2:

(Don't judge us, it's just that the scone was too good an appetiser and our appetites were whet and so we ordered just one more set......)
The brunch sets are very affordable as you get to choose any 3 for just $8, slightly more than the sinful Big M breakfast and wayyyyy better.

Set 1:
Decent sauteed mushrooms that needed some peppering, nicely done sunny side ups with flowing eggyolks (it can only be done this way!!!), hashbrowns fried to crisp awesomeness with bursting softness inside their shells. I.j.u.s.t.c.o.u.l.d.n't.st.o.p. OINK <(OO)>.

Set 2:
Don't let these Plain Janes fool you; one bite into the sausage proves juicy and flavourful, leaving me wanting more. Peppery scrambled eggs done with moistness and bite in them, topped with some tasty streaky bacon bits that were alas, a tad dry.

The Lunch set:
The crispy chicken cutlet with mango salsa on the side, plus a drink for $9.
But they were having a 10% Jun promo so we got it at $8.10. Shiok.
Aptly named, the crispy chicken provided a "crrgg" sound each time we bit into its fried succulent flesh.
Dip into the sweet chilli (ironic isnt it?) and put some tangy mango salsa on it.
Double shiokness.

It was a lot of food for 2, but every morsel was simple good food that was truly satisfying.
I'd definitely go back again, with the fuss free ordering and spacious layout.
The only gripe was the waiting time for our food, which took approx 15-20min.
(It wasn't served piping hot either; lucky it was not soup I ordered or I would get really peeved!)

That aside, go for a good walk in the gardens and soak up some sun before heading off.
A perfect Sunday out.
