A hearty meal at Fo You Yuan!

It was a quiet weekday and we congregated here for dinner as this place is one of our favourites for wholesome and delicious vegetarian cuisine!

For starters, FYY served up:
1) Crispy "Ikan Bilis" made of seaweed and beancurd skin
2) Fresh homemade achar

They were gone in minutes and we asked for more crispy things to go with the Olive Fried Rice (below):
Damn shiok combi I tell you.
And that chili paste.. it burns so good!

A close up of the fragrant dish, where you can taste fresh olive bits in each bite:

If you haven't had vegetarian escargots, you HAVE to come to FYY for their darn awesome ones:
Who knew gooey mozzarella cheese and mushrooms in a pot full of holes could taste so good?

All 12 of them in their crowning glory:

Chiong ah!!!
The cheese were shred to bits and nothing was left in the pot...

Up next, we had the Shou Mian:
Wet, juicy and full of wok hei.
Chef, you good.

Hotplate Tofu:
Also wet, juicy and full of wok hei.
CHEF, HOW YOU DO IT???

Then we had a vegetable dish with fried beancurd skin, soaked in an aromatic sauce:
The chai xim was delicious and fresh, with the buds still intact, just the way I like it! The beancurd skin... it was surprisingly flavourful and fried very well mmmm.

Here's a sudden picture of our dishes:

Now you see the mango "fish" dish:
This was a good attempt with fried beancurd and seaweed rolled into one, giving a "fishy" flavour. I didn't fancy the sauce as I thought it was too heavy for the dish; otherwise yummy.

And the "Golden Duck Slices" next to it:
Like the fish, this dish is also made of fried beancurd skin though sans seaweed. We loved it as it was fried nicely, and accompanied by a sweet duck sauce.

Despite ordering so many dishes, we did not feel stuffed and really enjoyed ourselves.
It might be pyschological, but the fact that we were only eating all vegetarian food cooked with fresh oil helped a lot in easing our guilt, if any ;p

We apologise for the lack of prices but that's cos our boss, J, always places the orders for us so there is almost no reference to the menu haha! ;)

But the average price range would be around $20-30 per pax, if you order like this post.

Do head down soon and remember to make reservations if you are going down on the 1st or 15th of the Chinese lunar calendar!

Trust me, you won't vegan in vain.
Vegan on, weelovefood.
